40 children in my house
An Interserve Partner helps build local capacity in education through a teacher-training program.
Farida was one such teacher who graduated from this program, now equipped and empowered as a qualified teacher. Her village, like many in the area, was very gender segregated and having a female teacher meant that girls would be allowed to attend high school.
When Farida married and moved, she noticed that there was no school close by for the children in her new village. So now, each day, after travelling to and from a school some distance away, she teaches 40 village children in her own home – crammed in and eager to learn.
Empowered by the mentoring and encouragement of this Interserve Partner, Farida is providing education for children who would otherwise be denied this opportunity to flourish.
This story was shared with us by a Partner who serves in Central Asia.
