In a temporary place
Speaking and sharing with some of these asylum seekers, we realised the there were common questions we all shared about our lives. We were all in a temporary place, wondering about our and our children's futures.

Lachie’s story
"I saw God touch my life."

OSCaR: a story about software
On the face of it, software development can seem like a stodgy business, and it wasn’t what Chris had in mind when he and his family left Adelaide. But this project has already had an impact on Cambodian society, and the kids Children In Families follows up every day.

The Lost Song
Tears came to my eyes as I realised that my ‘lost song’ had been restored, and this had happened in the most unlikely of situations.

God is moving
"I didn’t want to be alone anymore. I was so lonely I was ready to befriend anything that moved."

Your Kingdom Come
King Jesus, we pray for our leaders.

Go with God
My initial “call” came in response to human need. I attended a missions conference and the speaker told of the desperate need for the gospel among Muslim nations.

A ministry of encouragement
When I first arrived in Central Asia 15 years ago, I vividly remember the Principal of the Theological College telling me, “You’ll be a great encouragement to the women pastors!”

The church and the refugee
In our corner of this city, we’re having a crack at being a welcoming church community for the asylum seekers and new migrants among us.

Feeling frustrated and fruitless?
It is a strange relief to find that I am not the only one working cross culturally who feels it is often fruitless and profoundly frustrating.

Singing a New Song
Ethnomusicology within the context of missions! How does this help bring God’s love to people? Jonathan has worked in Bangladesh for more than six years, encouraging people to worship God deeply and meaningfully using their own cultural expressions.

Abi’s Story
"From my experience, her chance of surviving would indeed require a miracle." Be encouraged by God's work in response to his people's prayers.

Bright, neon, flashing signs
Despite God’s occasional “No” answer to prayer, I have learned that his plans are bigger, his ways are higher and he is always faithful.

The work of walking humbly
Not being able to speak has provided me with an opportunity to observe, to slow down, to listen and to pray.

The ministry of being there
Simply sitting alongside the mother, hugging her, holding her baby, and showing love brought comfort.

You came back!
“You came back, from your safe country to this scary situation?”

The housewife and the shopkeeper
Saule worked seven days a week, twelve hours a day. She worked hard to support her family back home. “What’s your dream, Saule? If you weren’t working in this job, what would you rather be doing?”

Don’t cry, God is kind
No longer am I in an isolated, almost forgotten, rural location: I am in a city, bustling with over half a million people, full of the noises and busyness of urban life. I am also in a very different job to before; I am now a nurse in a government hospital. One of my most overwhelming doubts over the past months has been, can I cope? Can I do this job?

Listening with respect
They entered sad and left smiling. To be listened to with respect and cared for was a new experience for them.

The Richter effect
“They have lived sacrificially to help the people of this marginalised area. But, being from another province, they are considered outsiders …”
Interserve Australia
Interserve is a community of ordinary Christians putting faith into action. We live and work among the most marginalised peoples of the Arab world, Asia and Australia.
