Tutorial Group Teacher

This is a general hospital serving the surrounding communities. Average daily in-patient numbers range from 60-70 and outpatients around 130. Main medical activities include general medicine and surgery orthopaedics paediatrics and maternity. An Emergency Room is open all hours. There are associated programs a nursing school mental health work and community-based rehabilitation.

From October 2022 we need a primary school teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a new tutorial group. Initially there will be one student aged 5 from Australia ready to start from February 2023. With the existence of a tutorial group there is the possibility of more families coming to serve at the hospital in the coming years. The sending organisation has had such tutorial groups for many years. They support expatriate appointees working in their programs. There has not been such a group in this location for many years.

The Tutorial Group teacher will teach in English. Qualified primary school teachers are welcome. A Masters qualification is also required to qualify for a visa and work permit.

Ophthalmologist

Orthotics specialist

This project has served for many years in the rehabilitation of children affected by disability. Our vision is That all may have abundant life our purpose Serve God through serving the poor. Around 2000 children are seen annually at the hospitals central clinic and 4000 in community clinics. Over 500 assistive devices were produced last year and nearly 400 club feet were treated by the Ponseti method.

The rehab center staff including one pediatric doctor (part-time) a pediatric rehab physio and an occupational therapist would welcome a qualified orthotist with pediatric experience to come and initiate a service for CP children and children with complicated club-feet. We need to start making our own ankle foot orthoses. At present children are sent to a center approximately 1 hour away by vehicle but the quality of the work there is not good and the splints often break. We need someone to set up a small workshop within the assistive devices work and train local staff.

You need pediatric experience in making orthotics and an interest in training local staff to provide such services on an ongoing basis. Flexibility and willingness to work at practical solutions with limited resources are essential qualities

Anaesthetist

The project is seeking a qualified anaesthetist to support the team of non-medical anaesthetists here. The anaesthetic team consists of 2 senior nurse anaesthetists (trained by visiting foreigners over the years) a medical assistant anaesthetist and several nurses. The hospital has 3 operating theatres one for mainly general/gynaecology one for obstetrics and one for small procedures and endoscopies. Most of the caseload is obstetrics (with many high risk cases) gynae and general surgery. There are 3600 deliveries per year with a 20 Caesarean section rate. We occasionally operate on neonates as well as all other age groups.There is a need for a physician anaesthetist to expand the teaching of the newer anaesthesia nurses to improve the skills of existing nurses to help manage complex patients within a limited resource setting and to maintain resuscitation skills.

The project is seeking a qualified anaesthetist (consultant/attending or senior trainee). He or she will need to be prepared to meet clinical needs as they arise as well as contribute to training. Those with research interests will find opportunity to work on existing projects.
