The university educates the next generation of leaders in science, public administration and various professions. Core features of the university include: academic freedom and institutional autonomy, predominantly internationally recruited faculty, English as the language of instruction and research; entirely merit-based admission and progression system; and integrated teaching and research starting at the undergraduate level.
Instructor, assistant, associate, and full professor positions are posted regularly in a wide range of departments, for example: engineering, mining, geology, business school, public policy, humanities, sociology, religion, languages, economics, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer sciences. English is the working and teaching language. Faculty positions usually require a PhD. People with masters plus experience may be considered for Instructor level positions. Non-PhDs are also considered for the foundational year program (1st year, prior to university entry and after high school) in a wide range of subjects.
