Our city has tightened the restrictions on movement of people. All public spaces outdoors have been closed. Police are fining people for being out without valid reasons. Curfew is 7pm. We are daily monitoring the COVID-19 statistics – it is generally climbing, though not as quickly as in some places. We are not seeing the ‘flattening of the curve’ yet here.
For us as a family, life is taking a different pace. With a background in medicine and work as a professor, Will works from home. Though the university where he works has sent the students home, classes continue online. This shift has meant a greater workload for Will lately as formats for lectures and exams have to be re-imagined.
“God has presented a unique opportunity to respond.”
Yet in this challenging time, God has presented a unique opportunity to respond. With his extensive professional experience and educational background, Will has been asked to join a team of biomedical specialists to figure out ways to contribute to helping the country during the pandemic. We feel it is an important way that God has enabled us to contribute to our adopted country in this season.
Please pray for granted wisdom and for the pandemic biomedical working group. Please also pray that leaders here who have to make hard decisions would seek truth in all their dealings.
Prayer:
“Lord, have mercy on Your children, those who are called by Your name in this generation, those You have called out of darkness into light. In this time of uncertainty and fear, help us to fix our eyes on You, the Author of our faith.
May these events cause us to long for His appearing in deeper ways and to return our focus to Christ and to cast off the impoverishing substitutes that we have chosen. We pray that You would preserve Your people in the midst of this pandemic.
May the saints shine brightly in the places you have put them, so that those without the hope of Christ would be drawn to Him because of His beautiful mercy.”
