To our God of the unexpected

We see you in places we never expected.
We see you in people we never expected.
We see you work in ways we never expected.
We choose to be your ordinary, unexpected servant.
We seek you at work among the poor, the sick and the imprisoned.
We follow you in neighbourhoods close to home and far over the seas.
And though we don’t desire it, we expect that life brings suffering.
We don’t desire it, but we expect to experience pain.
We know this because we love a man of sorrows.
We seek to join in your work.
We seek your face in the faces of those we meet.
We seek your glory, shining in places we never expected.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
