With great thankfulness to God we welcome Stewart Hunt, who commenced his role in January as National Director of Interserve Australia.
Stewart with his wife Bronwen has served overseas and in Australia with other mission organisations. For the last 14 years, Stewart has been the lead pastor at The Vine Baptist Church in Eltham, Melbourne. He is passionate about mission and brings a great combination of mobilisation, member care and leadership experience to the role.
Let’s hear from Stewart himself as he begins his time at Interserve:
“Interserve has a long and rich history of sharing the love of God with the peoples of Asia and the Arab world.
“I feel humbled to be able to draw on that experience as together we continue to shape a Christ-centred response to a rapidly changing world.
“In the lunchroom of the National Office, I found a vast blackboard filled with helpful hints and suggestions for my new start. Whilst a long list of the most common acronyms I might encounter will require further study, one comment sums up the warm reception I received, ‘Praying for you!‘
“Prayer is the key to all our plans and the glue to all our relationships. We are blessed to have many faithful prayer groups meeting across the nation, prayer at the National Office and further afield. Which is good! Because the way forward and the means to get there will be found on our knees. I’m hoping for many things this year, but I know that prayer is at the very heart of what it means to partner with God.
“In 1 John 5, the ‘battle-tested’ apostle exhorts a weary church with this encouragement, ‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if… he hears us… we know that we have what we asked of him.’
“How is God leading you to pray this year?
“Praying for you!“
We look forward to how God answers our prayers, and works through Stewart and the Interserve community as we partner in making Jesus Christ known among the peoples of Asia and the Arab world.
With thanks,
Wes Cassidy and the team at Interserve.
