Interserve Partner Cathy Hine will speak at CBE’s end of year dinner.
Topic: Does Islam disempower women?
Cathy joined Interserve in 1986 after looking for a mission agency that would nurture God’s call to ministry with women who live under Islam. This has provided a focus to Cathy’s last thirty years of ministry in mission. Cathy is passionate about women and change, particularly how the transforming power of the Kingdom of God, expressed in the message of the Gospel, is foundational to challenging the structures that mediate Muslim women’s lives.
When Cathy did her PhD she looked at the lives of women activists in Pakistan noting that many of them had their values shaped through education in Christian institutions. Cathy has worked for Interserve Mission Agency and now has developed two initiatives ” When Women Speak” and “Women of the Well”. The first is a network that encourages the exploration of the place of women’s voices where Christianity, Islam and missiology meet. Women of the Well is engaged with Muslim Women, academically, through social media, business and coaching.
