Provide relief for communities experiencing extreme hardship after the Türkiye–Syria earthquake
No doubt the images and stories out of Türkiye and Syria have touched your heart as they have so many. It really is unfathomable.
The 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck southern and central Türkiye on 6 February has killed over 44,000 people and injured well over a hundred thousand people. Many tremors have since followed with another quake (measuring 6.4-magnitude) in recent days causing further trauma and uncertainty.
War-torn northern Syria is especially hard hit, with less aid coming in due to the volatile security situation.
Since the local and international community started rescue and relief efforts, we have seen the images of collapsing buildings and people being miraculously rescued many days after the quake.
These stories have moved many to pray for the rescue efforts and for the communities, families, and children who have experienced so much trauma. In addition to prayer, many have given to the ongoing relief efforts. Whilst at times, situations like this can feel overwhelming, a little from many can mean a lot.

At Interserve we have an existing partnership with Eurorelief, a European-based NGO providing first-hand assistance, aid and relief to affected communities. They have a proven track record working with humanitarian disasters.
Immediate needs include food and clean water, shelter, blankets and warm clothing, along with other forms of aid. Long-term relief efforts will need to address the grief and trauma and help people practically as they rebuild their lives.
We invite you to give as you are able, so that those on the ground can provide much-needed help to communities experiencing extraordinary hardship.
Your gift is love in action, providing for people’s practical needs and bringing hope to the many people affected by this tragedy.
Thanks for partnering with us in this very practical way!

Resilience in grief
“These residents are now living in tents overlooking their destroyed homes, grieving their loved ones. We admire the people’s resilience and strength as we daily encounter their hospitality and kindness despite the circumstances they are in.”

Hospitality in hardship
“It does not matter where you are and whom you meet – people will first smile at you and politely ask where you come from. If they have a home still – or even just a stove or a fire, and a cup – they will invite you for tea. But the moment the earthquake gets mentioned, they will just start crying. Every single person we met has their story to share. Everyone is grieving.”
